Tele-echocardiography is becoming more important in cardiology. With echocardiologists reading and consulting at multiple locations, it is essential to deliver the images to the physician instead of sending the physician to the images.

Tel-Echo is designed to deliver full exam data between clinical sites or partial exam data (i.e., image clips) to the home. The Tel-Echo Acquisition Station acquires exams in parallel with the VCR on the ultrasound machine.

Exams may be transferred from a remote clinic to a main hospital on standard telecommunications lines. Either ISDN, 3 ISDN, or T1 lines may be used, based on the needs of the facility. Tel-Echo uses a unique image transfer protocol that allows for review during the exam, and makes all the images available shortly following the exam.
